KeyAssociates turned 50 in 2021, and it now has two more Keys in charge, Levin & Chris, whose emphasis is to take chemical formulations to develop a products-division to re-brand some of the still-in-demand consumer products from the early decades and to develop a completely new division to serve the Agriculture, Turf & Ornamental (T&O) sector... converting dirt into soil. Soil sustains life, and dirt can be made into soil with the right amendments.
In the 70s, "The Original Chemist”, Dr. Morris Key, assisted in bringing dozens of products to market, such as Liquid Paper, Thuron Pet Flea Collars, Kool Jool, and Touche O’ Gold. With a strong background in analytical, general and organic chemistry, Dr. Key is able to define a problem and create a solution across industries.
For the past several years, Morris has formulated products for the agricultural industry, and the differences between the demands of agriculture and T&O are primarily of function...agriculture, growing large volumes of plants on large expanses of land to feed us, whereas T&O focuses on growing ornamental and functional plants on much smaller bits of land to please us.
KeyAssociates’ emphasis is to formulate additives/amendments that restore deserts to fairways and make gardeners happy.
KeyAssociates began as a scientific, engineering, and technological services and products business established in April, 1971, first providing general analytical chemistry and consulting services, followed by formulating & producing specialized chemical products for various industries, with strong emphasis in the jewelry trade for manufacturing jewelers and consumers through a consulting agreement with Earl Weaver, the owner of Southwest Smelting and Refining Company (SWEST) of Dallas, Texas, and, as time passed, providing chemical, engineering, environmental, and forensic consulting services.
